Vanessa Garcia, Intern Architect

Vanessa Garcia

Vanessa Garcia graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2011 with her Master’s Degree in Architecture, and is currently pursuing her Architectural Registration Exams (ARE). She joined Dyron Murphy Architects, P.C. in the summer of 2008, and brings several years of experience in high end custom home design.

Vanessa hopes to grow as an architect and designer, and help provide various communities with great architecture in her time at Dyron Murphy Architects, P.C. She currently performs a variety of tasks, including drafting, 3D modeling and graphic design, design, construction administration, project coordination and project management.

Vanessa loves architecture because of the inherent opportunity to inspire people and affect how they live, work and learn. She believes good architecture plays a large role in our every day life.

Recent projects include:
· Navajo Nation Justice Centers - Tuba City, AZ & Crownpoint, NM
· Navajo Nation Transportation Complex - Near Tse Bonito, NM
· Rough Rock Community School - Rough Rock, AZ
· Institute of American Indian Arts Science & Technology and Sculpture & Foundry Buildings
· Institute of American Indian Arts Welcome Center
· Alamo Mini-Mart - Alamo, NM

In My Own Words...
I love architecture because it is such a unique field of art, where I can design the way people live and engage in their world. I love to travel, and believe it is a priceless and profound experience to immerse myself in another culture’s way of life, whether through art, architecture, food, language or music. I have had the privilege to travel to two amazing countries, Italy and Japan, and through my travels gained invaluable architectural and life experiences.

I believe we are so lucky to live in a free country where people are willing to fight for our freedom, and where we have the ability to do things like create great architecture. I realize that it is the little things in life that are so special and are to be treasured, whether spending time with family and my dog, being able to watch the beautiful New Mexico sunset every evening, or going to church to give thanks for all the many blessings we have.
